What do you find most fascinating / challenging about the water industry?
What fascinates me the most about the water industry is the vast amount of personality types. I have come across so many characters in my day, and to this day still do; the funniest ones are always the good ol' boys that have been drinking well water since before I was born!!! LOL!!!!! So funny how water brings people together, isn't it? Now the most challenging aspect would go along with the above statement, as with each new job comes a new character, a new plumbing system? an old plumbing system? Bad loop job? Good loop job? You really never know what type of water or what type of set up you're gonna show up to. Just show up prepared and offer your courtesy and expertise, and it all falls into place.
What is your hobby and why?
Outside of my professional responsibilities, I find great enjoyment in trading the futures market. While it involves a complex understanding, I actively engage with several financial markets, dedicating time to analyze charts and data. Typically, my focus is on S&P E mini or ES contracts, as well as The Nasdaq or NQ contracts. Once one achieves sufficient knowledge in this field, I would encourage them to fully immerse themselves in it.
Have you had a mentor in the industry and what valuable lesson / catch phrase has that person passed to you?
Undoubtedly, my mentor is my father. I have gained all my knowledge, not only in water treatment but in other areas as well, from him. He initially began with Sparklettes in his early twenties and subsequently established two substantial and successful water businesses. From a young age, he would regularly take me to work with him in the mornings. I learned everything from him, including how to carry a 5-gallon bottle to delivering 800 bottles daily from a delivery truck. Most importantly, I believe he wanted me to learn how to treat everyone with kindness and respect. Everyone who knows him cherishes him, and they never forget meeting him; I aspire to emulate his character and leave a similar legacy. His most memorable catchphrase is "EAT," which he proclaims loudly and proudly, emphasizing the importance of nourishment, as it truly is a cure for all ailments.
Who would you like to have a drink with and chat? This person can be from history or current day.
Initially, I found this question challenging. My immediate thought was Jesus, but then I considered the possibility of being more original. Ultimately, I decided that, regardless, my Savior, Christ Jesus, would be the most fascinating person I could ever meet, and I hope to one day have the opportunity to do so.
